What is the most sustainable cleaning/maintenance method?
Read answer »
Answer:
- Cleaning and impregnating. - Clean using "DAKSHAMPOO" cleaning products + impregnate with our permanent "TURBO IMPREGNEER" impregnating agent.
Benefits:
- Roof tiles become and remain dirt and water-repellent.
- No longer needs to be treated annually.
- The cheapest method in the long run.
Instruction:
- Pre-treat the surface with "ROOF SHAMPOO" products such as "QUICK CLEANER" or "ALGAE REMOVER" and spray with a high-pressure cleaner.
- Impregnate with the permanent "TURBO IMPREGNATE"
Can I make the ALGAE REMOVER foam?
Read answer »
Answer:
- Yes, that is possible with our "EcoThickener". You can use it to foam or even make it into a gel (thicken).
Benefits:
- Sticks to the roof.
- Doesn't run straight into the gutter.
- 75% fewer resources required.
Instruction:
- Add the "EcoThickener".
- Spray the thickened agent with a pressure pump onto the roof. Or spray the agent with a foam lance onto the roof/facade.
- After a two-week exposure period, rinse with a high-pressure cleaner and impregnate or simply leave it and repeat annually.
Is high pressure cleaning harmful?
Read answer »
Answer:
No, by pre-treating it and spraying it with 80 to 130 bar of water pressure it does not have to be harmful. On a microscopic level it does more or less affect the surface, but the intention is to impregnate it afterwards and therefore only let it be once. It is much more harmful to let the dirt do its thing for years by affecting the surface. It is therefore very good to thoroughly clean the roof, facade or terrace once and permanently impregnate it so that it does not and never has to be sprayed with a high-pressure cleaner again. Annual high-pressure cleaning should of course be avoided at all costs.
Things to note:
- Pre-treat with our cleaning products so that less water pressure is required.
- Using the correct pressure washer/lance/nozzle.
- Do not hold the nozzle too close.
- Do not focus on the same surface for too long.
- Spray diagonally from top to bottom.
- Avoid slots around skylights.
- Do not use a dirt cutter on facades/masonry.
- Determine the possibility of moisture penetration by inspecting the roof boarding. (Water under the roof tiles will dry up again by itself.)
Benefits:
- Damage caused by algae, moss and lichens is stopped immediately.
- Instant 100% clean result.
- Suitable for durable impregnation / coating.
- Makes defects in roof tiles visible so that they can be replaced/repaired.
Cons:
- Chance of one-time water under the roof tiles if the roof boarding or roof tiles are not waterproof. Water under the roof tiles usually dries up quickly. With good roof boarding, the water is drained into the gutter.
What kind of pressure washer do I need?
Read answer »
Answer:
- 600 liters of water per hour
- 130 bar water pressure
- dirt cutter for roof tiles
- flat jet for facades (nozzle 25045)
Benefits:
- Not harmful to roof tiles with normal use in combination with good pre-treatment to loosen dirt.
- Not harmful to joints with normal use in combination with a good pre-treatment to loosen dirt.
Instruction:
- Pre-treat the surface to be cleaned thoroughly so that less water pressure is required for cleaning.
- Determine an appropriate distance between the nozzle and the surface to be cleaned. Maintain the distance as long as possible.
- Work as quickly as possible so that less water and hydropower is needed.
Roof cleaning without a high-pressure cleaner, does it really get clean?
Read answer »
Answer:
This method does not provide an immediate solution for a dirty roof or damage caused by lichen and moss.
Characteristics:
- No immediate solution.
- On average, several treatments are required to clean the roof.
- Becomes optically clean but never clean down to the capillaries due to dirt residue left behind.
- Not clean enough to impregnate/coat.
- Must be re-treated every year.
- The most expensive method in the long run.
- Does not make broken roof tiles immediately visible, which means leaks are not reported/resolved.
- No chance of water under the roof tiles / leaks.
- Easier to perform than cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner.
Instruction:
- Apply roof shampoo products to the roof such as "Quick Cleaner" or "Algae Remover".
- Apply Eco Thickener Roof Shampoo to make the products sticky or thicker so that they stick to vertical and sloping surfaces and do not run straight down.

How can I measure my roof myself?
Read answer »
Answer:
- You calculate the height of the roof as follows: Measure the height of a roof tile from the 2nd row from the bottom. Count the number of roof tiles from the bottom to the top. As an example, the roof tile is 34 cm high and there are 16 roof tiles in height. The calculation is as follows: 0,34 x 16 = 5.44 m1. The height of the roof is 5.44 m1
- You calculate the length of the roof as follows: Measure the width of a roof tile from the 1st row from the bottom. Count the number of roof tiles from left to right. As an example, the roof tile is 30 cm wide and is 10.8 m1
- You can calculate the total roof surface as follows: 5.44 x 10.8 = 58.78
Can I deduct the skylights and solar panels?
Read answer »
Answer:
In general, it does not cost less but more work to work around these obstacles. When impregnating and coating, these obstacles cost extra work and pose risks that must be taken, which is why we usually calculate the entire roof surfaces including skylights, solar panels and the like. Each situation must be reassessed.
