Green removing deposits from roof tiles
Moss and algae often find ideal growing places on roof tiles, especially in dark and damp places. They attach themselves to the tiles and can penetrate the pores with their roots, making the roof tiles more brittle. Cracks and fissures can develop, which can lead to leaks and rot in the wood. The consequences of green deposits on roof tiles are therefore not attractive. That is why it is important to remove green deposits from the roof tiles in good time and to apply long-term protection against new deposits.

FAQ - General
What is the most sustainable cleaning/maintenance method?
Read answer »
Answer:
- Cleaning and impregnating. – Clean using “DAKSHAMPOO” cleaning products + impregnate with our permanent “TURBO IMPREGNEER” impregnating agent.
Benefits:
- Roof tiles become and remain dirt and water-repellent.
- No longer needs to be treated annually.
- The cheapest method in the long run.
Instruction:
- Pre-treat the surface with “ROOF SHAMPOO” products such as “QUICK CLEANER” or “ALGAE REMOVER” and rinse with a high-pressure cleaner.
- Impregnating with the permanent “TURBO IMPREGNATE”
Can I make the ALGAE REMOVER foam?
Read answer »
Answer:
- Yes, that is possible with our “EcoThickener”. You can use it to foam or even make it into a gel (thicken).
Benefits:
- Sticks to the roof.
- Doesn't run straight into the gutter.
- 75% fewer resources required.
Instruction:
- Add the “EcoThickener”.
- Spray the thickened agent with a pressure pump onto the roof. Or spray the agent with a foam lance onto the roof/facade.
- After a two-week exposure period, rinse with a high-pressure cleaner and impregnate or simply leave it and repeat annually.
Is high pressure cleaning harmful?
Read answer »
Answer:
No, by pre-treating it and spraying it with appropriate water pressure it does not have to be harmful. On a microscopic level it more or less affects the substrate but it is more harmful to leave the dirt for years. It is best to thoroughly clean the roof, facade or terrace once and impregnate it permanently so that it never has to be sprayed with a high-pressure cleaner again. Annual high-pressure cleaning should be avoided.
Things to note:
- Pre-treat with our cleaning products so that less water pressure is required.
- Using the correct pressure washer/lance/nozzle.
- Do not hold the nozzle too close.
- Do not focus on the same surface for too long.
- Spray diagonally from top to bottom.
- Avoid slots around skylights.
- Do not use a dirt cutter on facades/masonry.
- Determine the possibility of moisture penetration by inspecting the roof boarding. (Water under the roof tiles will dry up again by itself.)
Benefits:
- Damage caused by algae, moss and lichens is stopped immediately.
- Instant 100% clean result.
- Suitable for durable impregnation / coating.
- Makes defects in roof tiles visible so that they can be replaced/repaired.
Cons:
- Chance of one-time water under the roof tiles if the roof boarding or roof tiles are not waterproof. Water under the roof tiles usually dries up quickly. With good roof boarding, the water is drained into the gutter.
What kind of pressure washer do I need?
Read answer »
Answer:
- 600 liters of water per hour
- 130 bar water pressure
- dirt cutter for roof tiles
- flat blasting for facades
Benefits:
- Not harmful to roof tiles with normal use in combination with good pre-treatment to loosen dirt.
- Not harmful to joints with normal use in combination with a good pre-treatment to loosen dirt.
Instruction:
- Pre-treat the surface to be cleaned thoroughly so that less water pressure is required for cleaning.
- Determine an appropriate distance between the nozzle and the surface to be cleaned. Maintain the distance as long as possible.
- Work as quickly as possible so that less water and hydropower is needed.
Roof cleaning, facade cleaning and terrace cleaning by just spraying without a high-pressure cleaner, does it get clean?

- The most expensive method in the long run.
- Does not make broken roof tiles immediately visible, which means leaks are not reported/resolved.
Benefits:
- No chance of water under the roof tiles.
- Easy to do yourself.
Instruction:
- Apply roof shampoo products to the roof.
- Apply Eco Thickener Roof Shampoo to make the products sticky or thicker so that they stick to vertical and sloping surfaces and do not run straight down.

FAQ
What is the difference between the quick cleaner and the Algae Remover?
- De quick cleaner cleans quickly in seconds to minutes. The Algae Remover on the other hand cleans very slowly in days, weeks to months.
- De quick cleaner cleans both dry and damp surfaces. The Algae Remover, on the other hand, only cleans dry surfaces.
- De quick cleaner has a short exposure time of 60 seconds to 20 minutes. The Algae Remover on the other hand has a long exposure time of 24-48 hours without the intervention of rain showers.
- De quick cleaner is less concentrated and should be diluted with water 1:1 to 1:3 for optimum effect. The Algae Remover should be diluted 1:40 with water.
- Due to the rapid action of the quick cleaner can achieve a clean result within one day and is therefore particularly suitable for commercial services. The clean end result by the Algae Remover, on the other hand, often takes a long time to achieve.
- De quick cleaner can be applied on days when rain is expected and is therefore particularly suitable for commercial services. The Algae Remover, on the other hand, only works in a series of dry days. In advance 24 hours before application and up to 24-48 hours after application without rain.
- De quick cleaner works at temperatures from 0°C. The Algae Remover, on the other hand, works optimally at temperatures from 16°C.
cleans the product better if I dilute it with less water, like 1:10?
The product indeed cleans a lot better with a ratio of 1:10.
Consumption
Theoretically consumption
Please allow for a consumption of 3-5 m² per litre of application solution, depending on the porosity of the substrate.
Application conditions
This algae and moss remover can be used in all dry weather conditions. It's best used on a bone-dry surface and with little to no rainfall for two days after application.
Why 48 Hours of processing time? This is how your Algae Remover really works.
You've purchased our product to naturally tackle green deposits, algae, and lichen. But why does it need to work for 48 hours? And why do we recommend a bone-dry surfaceThe answer lies in the biology of pollution.
Step 1: The 'Thirsty' Enemy (Why Dryness Is Essential)
Algae and lichens are largely composed of water. When they are bone dry, they are, so to speak, "thirsty." They are eager to absorb moisture. At that precise moment, you apply the diluted Algae Remover. The organisms actively absorb the product, like a sponge. On a wet surface, the product slides off and is immediately diluted. On a dry surface on the other hand, absorption and thus control begins immediately and maximally.
Step 2: This is what happens in the first hours (Fast, but invisible)
Within minutes to hours of application, the active ingredient (a quaternary ammonium compound) bonds with the cell walls of the algae and the moss's fungal hyphae. It penetrates and begins to disrupt the cells from within. You can't see this process yet, but under a microscope, it's a real battle.
Step 3: Why It Really Has to Take 48 Hours (The Final Blow)
Killing a complex organism like moss or lichen isn't a fifteen-minute job. While single-celled algae grow relatively quickly, lichens have a deeper, fibrous structure. It simply takes time for the biocide to fully penetrate the roots.
-
The 48-hour margin is the scientifically proven standard that guarantees that the product has penetrated to the deepest layers.
-
Rain after half an hour? No problem for adhesion. The product will already be firmly in place. But to speed up the process and achieve the best results, it's best to keep it dry for the full 48 hours. Rain slows down the process because it dilutes the product.
-
The visible result: After this period, the algae will discolor (often yellow/orange) and the lichens will become brittle. They are now dead and can easily be removed from the surface by rain or a soft brush.
In short: The dry start and 48 hours of patience aren't unnecessary luxuries, but the key to a thorough and long-lasting clean result. It's the time nature needs to do its work.
