Roof treatments: coating concrete roof tiles with Airless paint spray equipment

1. Read through the label for basic instructions on how to use the quick cleaner.
2. Mix the quick cleaner with water and any additives as indicated on the label.
3. Spray the roof tiles with the quick cleaner.
4. Spraying can be performed with any pressure sprayer or our professional spray kit.
5. After applying the agent, it is advisable to rinse window frames, windows, solar panels, metals and the like with water before the agent has dried.
6. Spray off the roof tiles with a pressure washer. Use a rotary dirt scraper.
7. Ideal specifications of the pressure washer: maximum 130 bar water pressure and consumption of 600 liters of water per hour.
8. Preferably use a short lance so that from close up you can clearly see that no bits of moss are left behind.
9. After rinsing the roof with water, spray it again with Roof Shampoo Quick Cleaner. The agent cleans any remaining residue so that the roof tiles will stay clean longer. Do not add any additive to the remedy, dilute it only with water.
10. The agent should not remain on the roof tiles, rinse the roof tiles and other elements with water such as; solar panels, metals, woodwork and coastal materials etc.
11. Cover the entire skylight with a special exterior grade of film that does not leave adhesive residue. This also applies to dormers, ventilation pipes, etc. In case there are solar panels on the roof, we recommend covering the outer edge with an exterior grade tape that does not leave adhesive residue.
12. Apply a first coat of roof coating to seal the pores of the roof tiles. Add 5% water to the pure roof coating, mix it as directed and apply the coating with the sprayer. Make sure it covers well and the concrete is no longer visible. To reach the roof tiles all properly, you can move up roof tiles or use a roof ladder, scaffold, aerial platform or fall protection. The layer thickness should be about 400 grams per m2. The layer thickness is important because the coating on the roof will decrease in thickness over time due to outside influences.
13. Hard-to-reach areas can be applied with a brush or roller.
14. For solar panels, use a piece of hardboard or cardboard approximately 60x30 cm to shield the solar panels during roof coating spraying.
15. Treat the sides of the tiles from the roof or from a ladder with a wall spacer.
16. Allow the roof coating to dry and then apply a 2nd coat. Do not add water to this second coat. The layer thickness should now also be approximately 400 grams per m2. For very weathered roof tiles, additional thickness is needed to fill deep wear spots.
17. The Airless pump should have a minimum specification of 2.8 ltr./min. In case your pump contains a lesser quantity, you should dilute the coating with more water such as 7% In case of greater dilution with water, it is recommended to spray an additional layer of coating to achieve the correct film thickness.

Coating concrete roof tiles without Airless paint spray equipment:

Be careful that the paint does not dry up in the nozzle, in case it does, the nozzle can be placed in Thinner so that the paint will dissolve. Spray as many parts of the roof as possible so that the pores of the tiles are sealed and the tiles are no longer porous. The gaps between the roof tiles will already be nicely colored.
12. Add 5% water to the pure roof coating, mix it as directed and apply the coating with a roller and brush. Make sure it covers well and the paint is spread out nicely evenly. To reach the roof tiles all properly, you can move roof tiles up or use a roof ladder, scaffold, aerial platform or fall protection. The layer thickness should be about 400 grams per m2, to achieve this you will need a thicker brush and roller that will absorb a lot of paint. The layer thickness is important because the coating on the roof will decrease in thickness over time due to outside influences.

14. Allow the roof coating to dry and then apply a 2nd coat. Do not add water to this second coat. The layer thickness should now also be approximately 400 grams per m2. For very weathered roof tiles, additional thickness is needed to fill deep wear spots.

Ceramic roof tiles:

• With ceramic roof tiles, first check if the adhesion of the coating is sufficient. To test if the adhesion of the roof coating is sufficient, you should apply the product and after 56 hours check with a sharp object if the product comes off. The product should not peel off.
• In case the adhesion is not sufficient, apply roof coating primer first.
• With glazed roof tiles, you should also check the adhesion of the primer first.
• In case primer is required on a ceramic roof tile, in accordance with the instructions on the package, apply primer to all roof tiles first.
• With ceramic roof tiles, it is more difficult to apply a good thickness of roof coating because the product may drip. The advice is not to add water to the roof coating so that the product will be as thick as possible.
