Your own facade coating: how to do it
You don't have to be a professional painter to do this. You just need to use the right product and follow the correct steps.
Step 1: Check the surface
This coating is suitable for:
Plastered walls (stucco)
Betonboorder
Fiber cement boards
Not suitable for: horizontal surfaces that remain wet for long periods of time (such as the top of a wall).
Note: Asbestos cement sheets should never be cleaned or coated. They must be removed and disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations.
Step 2: Prepare the surface
Good adhesion starts with a clean surface.
The wall must clean, dry and load-bearing .
Remove loose paint, dirt and grease.
For highly absorbent surfaces, you can apply the first coat with a maximum of 10% water dilution.
Step 3: Apply the coating
You need two even coats for best results.
First layer: Depending on the suction power of the wall, it can be diluted slightly with water (max. 10%).
Second layer: Apply undiluted for the optimal protective layer.
You can apply the coating with:
A roller (the best choice for most DIYers)
A brush (for edges and difficult spots)
An airless sprayer (for large, even surfaces)
Pay attention to the temperature: Do not work at temperatures below 8°C. Both the wall and the air should be warmer.
Step 4: Enjoy the result
After 24 hours, your facade is rainproof. After 3 days, it's fully load-bearing. Your house not only looks better, it's now better protected.

Count on 150 ml per m² per layerFor a smooth wall, that's approximately 6,5 m² per liter per coat. Measure your facade and calculate for two coats.
