• The roof is sprayed with the Roof Shampoo quick cleaner in combination with the EcoThickener.
• After applying the shampoo, the roof is sprayed with a high-pressure cleaner (80 to 130 bar water pressure and 10 litres of water per minute).
• Afterwards, the roof is treated (if necessary) with the Roof Shampoo quick cleaner and rinsed with clean water.

When should I use the primer?

For baked or glazed roof tiles, as our roof coating usually doesn't adhere optimally to these types of roofing. The primer is not intended for concrete roofing.

Do you have a step-by-step plan for applying the primer to my roof?

1. First spray the surface with the Roof Shampoo quick cleaner, one of our roof cleaning productssystem. (A gentle cleaning where a maximum of 130 bar water pressure is sufficient. The quick cleaner is also used for facade cleaning.)
2. Then rinse with a high-pressure cleaner with 130 bar water pressure.
3. After rinsing with water, spray again with the Roof Shampoo quick cleaner.
4. Rinse the surface with water. The surface must be clean (free of algae, grease and dust) and dry.
5. Apply roof tile primer.

Do you have any other tips that I should keep in mind?

• Apply in advance during the warmer period from April to October.
• Cover roof windows and dormers in advance with “Kip Self-Adhesive Protective Film – 313 Green”.
• Mask the sides of solar panels in advance with “Masking Tape Yellow 48 mm”.

Is a primer treatment sustainable?
The treatment is very durable, but it must be carried out correctly with the right products under the right weather conditions.

Someone from construction says it's a waste of money. How can that be?
One of the reasons is that a lot of substandard work is delivered by companies that are not sufficiently specialized or do not use the best resources, often it is done without any form of training.

Can roof tile primer lose its effectiveness after a few years?
If applied correctly, with the right materials and under the right weather conditions, it is impossible for the roof tile primer to stop working on its own.

Isn't impregnating my roof tiles more durable than a roof coating?
After impregnation, dirt and moss can unfortunately nestle between your roof tiles again. Impregnating ceramic roof tiles or concrete roof tiles that still have the original coating is pointless because the roof tile primer cannot penetrate there. Also not unimportant is that after impregnation, due to the adhesion, you cannot have your roof coated in a color for at least 10 years. Impregnating a worn roof with open pores works best, the disadvantage is that your roof tiles remain fragile and still look worn.

How many layers of liquid roof tile primer should I apply?
Apply in one covering layer.

To mask or not to mask?
Instead of masking off, you can also choose to shield things with a piece of cardboard of, for example, 60x40 cm. You can also work with a roller and brush near elements that need to remain clean. The safest option is to mask off and use an outdoor quality tape.
