Extensive step-by-step plan with images
1. Determine the correct angle with a bevel square
- Bend the grille once, approximately 1 cm behind the bottom of the roof tile.
- Determine the correct angle so that the grid lies horizontally flat and can rest on the bottom batten.
- Secure the swivel hook in the correct position.

2. Determine the correct point on the grid where it needs to be bent
- Measure the distance from the bead to approximately 1 cm behind the bottom of the roof tile.

3. Bend the grille
- Screw two screws into the table against which the grate can be placed so that it cannot slide further. See the image.
- Place the grate against the two screws and secure it with one screw so that it remains held tightly against the two screws. This ensures that the grate will be bent at exactly the same point every time. See the image.
- Bend the grid evenly across the width at three points: left, middle, and right.
- Place the toggle clamp in the correct position next to the grid on the table to recreate the correct angle.
- Place the squaring hook against the grate at the three points to check the angle and adjust it if necessary.

4. Install the grille
- Secure the grille with the stainless steel mounting clips and press it firmly against the bead of the gutter. See the photo.
If the gutter doesn't have a 20 mm round bead, the grille can be secured without mounting clips. You can use stainless steel self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws.
- Position the shim so that the grille lies horizontally flat and use it to maintain the same distance between the grille and the underside of the gutter. See the photo.
- Screw the grid to the bottom batten. When screwing in the first screw, keep the entire grid as horizontal as possible across the width so that the grid does not shift out of position when the next screw is inserted.
- Screw the grid to a bottom batten with at least 3 screws.
In some cases, the bottom roof batten cannot be reached. Simply clamping the grille behind the bottom roof tile is sufficient, even without screwing it down. Because multiple grilles are screwed together and ultimately also at the ends, they will always remain secure as a whole.

5. Attach the grilles together
- Overlap the grilles by at least 20 mm.
- Screw the grilles together with at least two stainless steel screws using the stainless steel cylinder head 3.5 x 20 mm T15 TORX or stainless steel self-tapping screws.

6. Install the bird and marten deterrent AP78
- Screw the bird and marten protection to the first roof batten using at least three stainless steel screws.
- In some cases, screwing onto the bottom batten is not possible, in which case you can mount the screen directly onto the grille using 5 stainless steel screws.

7. Mount the end profile L77
- When mounting the grille, it is important to leave at least 3 millimeters free for the L77 end profile.
- First measure how long the end profile should be in the corner and cut it to size with metal shears.
- Cut the profile to the correct size and bend it into the correct shape using the combination pliers.
- Screw the profile to the grille with one or two stainless steel screws using the stainless steel cylinder head 3.5 x 20 mm T15 TORX or stainless steel self-tapping screws.
- Make sure that all openings at both ends of the gutter are sealed.

- The screen can be screwed in place with stainless steel self-tapping screws, which requires screws to be screwed into the solar panels. We've always had good experiences with this.
- If drilling is not possible, you can secure the barrier with a suitable tape or sealant. For example, you can use: 1.) Tesa primer tape and Tesa 60153 Primer. 2.) Den Braven Zwaluw High Tack. 3.) Butyl adhesive strips.
- For example, clean and degrease the surface and apply 5 pieces of Butyl adhesive strips and 3 dots of High Tack adhesive per meter.
- Press the comb (pieces of aluminium) against the roof tiles so that all openings are sealed. See the photo for an example.

- In some cases, it is necessary to cut and install an extra piece of material to close openings.
- With metal shears it is possible to cut out fittings from the original and find creative solutions for, for example, this type of supports, but also for the internal and external corners.

- The corners can be made by cutting and bending the material.

- Another way to create a corner is to mount up to the corner.
- By cutting and bending, you can ensure the comb completely covers the corner. See the photo.

- In some cases, gluing or screwing is not possible. In extreme cases, it is also possible to install the barrier with high-quality black tie wraps.

- Attach it to the bead of the gutter with pop rivets together with a twist drill 3,3 mm of screws.
- To secure the grid to the bead of the gutter in order to be able to drill, use a spring clamp.
- Attach to the 1st batten under the 1st row of roof tiles with screws.
- To bend or fold the grid, do so at the edge of a table.
- You can determine the correct angle using a bevel square.
- You can assemble the grids together using pop rivets of screws.
- The gaps at the ends of the gutter can be sealed with the end profile L77You can do this with screws expats must register with the local municipality and obtain a 1mm twist drill.
- The gaps at the ends of the gutter can also be sealed with the AP23 grille. Cut an L77 end profile from the grille yourself and bend it at the edge of the table. You can fix it to the grille with screws.
- For additional protection against subsidence if the grille has to be placed on the back of the gutter, a pipe with a diameter of 50 mm can be mounted under the gutter grille with a screw so that the pipe cannot slide away.
Basic tools for assembly
- Metal shears
- Two-hook
- Pin
- Angle grinder
- Caulking gun
- Trestle
- Worksheet
- Ladder, scaffolding or aerial work platform
- Screwdriver
Metal shears
- For cutting the end profile.
- For cutting the gutter grille.

Two-hook
- For checking the correct angle when bending the grille.
- To check the correct distance between the bottom of the gutter and the gutter grille when screwing it in.

Waterproof marker
- For marking cutting lines when sawing or cutting the grid.

Angle grinder with metal disc + safety glasses
- For marking cutting lines when sawing or cutting the grating. This can also be done with metal shears. An angle grinder makes it easier to achieve a nice, straight cut.
- Safety glasses are essential when sawing with an angle grinder due to the possibility of flying sparks with pieces of metal.

Caulking gun + High Tack sealant
- For sealing permeable openings in zinc gutters. Sometimes, screwing the grating into the zinc is an option if no other option is available. This durable sealant allows you to lubricate the screws all around to prevent water from leaking through.
- We recommend a transparent sealant.

2x Wooden trestle
- Here we mount a wooden worktop for bending the grid.
- It is important that these are made of wood as we will be screwing the top down.

MDF worktop 1100x750x18 mm
- We mount these securely to the trestles with screws for a stable base.

A ladder, scaffolding or spider lift
- To reach the gutter, a ladder, scaffolding, or spider tracked aerial work platform is often required.

Flat screw driver
- For possibly loosening the stainless steel mounting clip.

Gutter grille AP77, AP55 and AP23
- Fits all types of gutters.
- For non-standard width gutters, it is possible to widen the grate with a second grate. These can be connected with stainless steel screws.
Caution! The combination (copper and aluminium) is quite unfavorable because the potential difference between aluminium and copper is large. If the metals are electrically separated, no corrosion will occur. Install durable tape or stainless steel between the grate and the copper gutter.
